The Story

This is a selective guidebook describing the best rock climbing and sport climbing areas in the Ticino region of southeast Switzerland. It covers 105 different crags in 15 main areas, including Locarno, Onsernone, Maggia, Verzasca, Bellinzona, Riviera, Blenio, Leventina, Moesa, Lugano, and Mendrisio.

The guidebook describes over 4,800 routes, with a good mixture of single pitch sport routes and long trad/mixed multi-pitch routes. Many of these multi-pitch routes are between 200m and 500m long.

The majority of the single pitch sport routes are shown on colour photo topos. The multi-pitch routes are shown on clear topos, with symbols indicating how good the bolting is, what trad gear is required, and type of descent. French grades are given for each pitch, along with an overall obligatory grade.

For each crag there is a location map and GPS co-ordinates for the parking area. Symbols indicate how good the bolting is, approach time, rope length required, orientation, altitude and the style of climbing to be found.
